About

The attention to matter and sensory perception are constant and can be found in most of my works. Sculptures and installations are presented to be perceived with the senses. Natural and artificial elements are some of the materials incorporated on the internal and external surfaces of the works, transforming the viewer’s perception. The need for tactility and the attention to matter are also found in the paintings. The surfaces become rhythmic, constantly modulated by light not only to have plastic effects but also to suggest sensory sensations. The work done for years with blind people has suggested the way for the first experiments.

My work never has only aesthetic purposes; instead, I would like to stimulate “reflections” with a style that is sometimes even intimist and often calling the public to an “active role”.

The natural scenario, already a “work of art”, and the deep beauty of people, become doors to infinite inner landscapes.

Contemporary people must be educated in the perception of themself in relation to the Universe to discover the fragility that underlies existence.

For this reason, my photographs and installations also deal with social and environmental issues related to respect for human rights and the development of an ecological conscience.

The natural aptitude for experimentation pushes me to create works with an interweaving of several languages, including contemporary ones.

Breve biografia

Born in Domodossola in 1967, she lives and works between Milan and Lake Orta. Graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, she has always supported her artistic activity with training in educational pedagogy, collaborating with universities and National and International Institutions. From 2006 to 2016 she worked  with G. Aloisi, an artist trained alongside leading figures on the international art scene such as Bruno Munari, Cruz Diez, Denise Rene, Fausta Squatriti and Luigi Veronesi, from whom she draws lessons and skills. The contamination between different artistic languages and the propensity to experiment are practices at the base of Monica Gorini’s research, who for her artistic production draws on the experience she lived for many years with blind people. Her works have a constant reference to the multi-sensory and are accompanied by poetic texts that she composes herself. As a visual artist she has exhibited in national and international group shows.
